Who is eligible to join the forum?
Any privacy officer can join the forum - you just need to register with us first so we can set you up with access.
How to register
If we already deal with you regularly, you should receive an invitation from us. If you haven't heard from us, let us know.
For those of you whom we don't know so well, just contact us on enquiries.org.nz to register. The only thing you need to provide is a note from the head of your agency confirming for us that you are a privacy officer for that agency.
An agency may have several privacy officers. Each can register for the forum as long as we know they are a privacy officer.
Registration is at our discretion, so we can ensure that the forum can do what it's intended to do, for the benefit of New Zealand privacy officers.
Once we've accepted a request for registration, we'll let you know how to log on and you can start posting!
What is the forum for?
The forum is a space within which privacy officers can freely share information about privacy matters with one another, and receive information from us. For instance, you may wish to share privacy policies that other privacy officers could use or adapt for their agencies. You may also wish to post draft privacy documents for comment and peer review.
Privacy officers can start threads on whatever privacy-related topics they wish. (We may need to manage threads from time to time, including deleting old threads, to ensure that the forum doesn't become too cluttered and difficult to use).
Privacy officers can also ask our enquiries team questions via the forum. We'll post the responses on the same thread, so that all participants can see them. (If you want a personal answer from our enquiries team, rather than one that is shared on the forum, that's fine - please contact us on enquiries.org.nz as usual, or give us a call).
Terms and conditions and privacy statement
Make sure you check the terms and conditions for using the forum. They're there to ensure that the forum can do what it's set up to do. Also check our privacy statement for using the forum so you know what we do with your information!
