Do I have to provide information we got from another agency?

As a starting point, an individual is entitled to ask for any personal information you hold about them – it doesn’t matter how you got the information, or where you got it from.

However, if you know that another agency also holds the information, and you think the information is more closely associated with that agency (for example, because they created the information, or because they have a closer relationship with the relevant individual), you can transfer a request for that information to the other agency.

If you want to transfer the request, you will need to do so within 10 working days and let the individual know that their request has been transferred.
