What is privacy breach reporting?

If a privacy breach happens in your organisation, it’s important to know what to do. One of the steps you will need to take is to decide whether it is so serious that you need to tell our office.

If it is a serious privacy breach, you should tell our office. This is mandatory under the Privacy Act 2020, which took effect on 1 December 2020.

If a serious privacy breach occurs, it’s important you do everything you can to minimise the harm to both the people affected and your organisation.
