How do I extend a freeze on my credit information?
If you still think you are at risk of fraud after 10 working days, you can ask the credit reporter to extend the suppression. But at this point you will have to make an extension request to all three credit reporters separately. The credit reporter can ask you to provide some evidence to show why you believe you are at risk (for example a copy of a police report or a data breach notification).
If they accept that you are still at risk, they need to either continue the suppression indefinitely, or for a fixed period of no less than 12 months. You can request that the suppression is lifted (and that your credit file is ‘unfrozen’) at any point.
