The Office of the Privacy Commissioner is creating a Privacy Trust Mark to highlight excellent privacy practice in a product or service – and we need your help!

Our office works to develop and promote a culture in which personal information is protected and respected. The Privacy Trust Mark will help build public awareness around how to recognise products and services that have been designed with the privacy interests of consumers as a priority.

We also want the trust mark to be an incentive for organisations and businesses to take a privacy-centric approach when creating products and services. It might be, for example, a mobile app that does not collect your personal information, or a service that enables a user to readily access their personal information.

The deadline for entries to our Privacy Trust Mark Design Competition has now passed. We now want you to vote for your favourite designs. The design which receives the most Facebook likes and emails to our office will be declared winner of the People's Choice Award. You can see the designs here and on our Facebook page.

Please note the design competition and the People's Choice Award vote are now closed. Thank you to those who took part. We'll be announcing the winners shortly.

What you can do

This is where you come in. We want you to help us create a logo that will help people identify and choose privacy friendly products and services. The logo needs to be simple and clear, and  be an instantly recognisable symbol of good privacy practice.

The winning designer will be awarded $3,500. The deadline for entries is midnight on 15 February 2018.

If yours is the winning design, it will be displayed on our website and on products and services throughout New Zealand! We will take your concept design and turn it over to a professional designer for finalisation.
