Privacy Week packed with resources, publications and events

Privacy Week 2017 begins on Monday 8 May 2017. The Office of the Privacy Commissioner will be hosting lunchtime forums on a variety of topics, as well as releasing new tools and resources to help make privacy easy.

Seminars

Seminars in Auckland and Wellington will cover: 

  • Privacy in broadcasting – with Broadcasting Standards Authority Chief Executive Belinda Moffatt and legal manager Patricia Windle.
  • Privacy in employment – with Susan Hornsby-Geluk and Blair Scotland, Partners at Dundas Street Employment Lawyers.
  • Online privacy – with InternetNZ and Netsafe
  • Privacy and big data - with Dame Diane Robertson, Chair of the Data Futures Partnership.

Tools and resources

The Office of the Privacy Commissioner is also marking the week by releasing a variety of new tools, resources and publications. These include:

  • A new e-learning module on employment and privacy
  • Privacy ABC: a short, scenario-driven module that teaches privacy basics in 30 minutes or less
  • Posters with rhyming privacy messages
  • A general privacy brochure that gives an overview of your privacy rights and obligations
  • A privacy quiz to test your knowledge during the week
  • Health on the Road: advice for healthcare workers taking patient information into the community.
