What happens if an agency doesn’t respond to my request?
We suggest if you have not had any response to your request that you contact the agency again to follow up on it as, for example, it may be the case that the agency didn’t receive your request for some reason, or that it is working on your request but has forgotten to update you.
You should ask to speak to the agency’s privacy officer or the person who deals with Privacy Act requests.
If you can’t speak to a privacy officer (or someone else who can help you), or if you’re not satisfied with the agency’s response, then you can make a complaint to us.
